Visiting Castleton

Where To Start?

Situated near Mam Tor, known locally as the "Shivering Mountain", and the dramatic limestone gorge of Winnats Castleton is one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District whatever the time of year.

Haddock Hideaway is based in the centre of Castleton in the heart of the Peak District National Park so, you won’t have far to travel. There is plenty to do in the village itself if you fancy exploring by foot and we’d like to introduce a few of our favourite places.

In the village of Castleton you might want to visit Peveril Castle, the four Show Caves – Treak Cliff, Speedwell Cavern, Blue John & The Devils Arse.

The seven pubs – The George, The Castle, The Bull, Ye Old Nags Head, The Peak, The Cheshire Cheese or The Swiss Tap.

Call in at the Visitor Information Centre for an insight to the village – both past and present. Oh, and don’t forget the large network of footpaths which all lead to spectacular views.
