Access Statement
At Haddock Hideaway - Castleton we aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home. The following statement is a summary of our provision. Whilst every effort has been taken to open up our home to everyone it should be noted we are working within the restrictions of a listed building. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will try to help.

The bus station is approximately 1000 meters from the entrance. There are gradient pavements with textured drop curbs.

The main train station is 5 minutes away by car.

There is a bus service from the station and taxi numbers can be provided.

The nearest radar toilets are located in the main car park, approximately 500meters away.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

There is free parking for one car per room in the rear car park. There is additional roadside parking in the vicinity.

Assistance with luggage is available to all guests.

The entrance is accessed via a gradual ramp.

External door opens outwards but has level access.

The car park is lit at night.
-

Guide dogs are welcome, but we suggest you book the Lower Styx room.
Main Entrance & Reception

Entrance leads into a lounge area.

Pen and paper available on arrival by request.

There are no steps into the ground floor room.

Guest can be escorted to the rooms and facilities explained.

Additional room keys available if needed.

Seating area available for check-in.
Bedrooms

The Lower Styx double studio is on the ground floor with a secure lockable door.

The Upper Styx apartment is on the first floor with secure lockable door.

Televisions all have remote controls and subtitles.

Carpets are all fitted short pile, with vinyl fitted to the bathrooms
-
Lights are fitted with low energy bulbs and reading spots are available.

Beds are accessible from both sides.
General
-
Reception & Lower Styx are located on the ground floor.

Upper rooms are accessed by 15 carpeted steps with handrail.
-
All areas on the first floor are carpeted; lower rooms are mainly hardwood with a small area of carpet.

All bedrooms are en-suite. There are no additional toilets.

All furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.

Tables are approximately 67cm high and there are chairs without arms.

We do not play background music in any area of Haddock Hideaway.

The building is a no smoking area.
Shower-rooms & Bathrooms
-
Lower Styx bathroom door is outward opening with one raised step. Wider access is available from the hallway but there is shallow step. Upper Styx bathrooms doors are all inward opening. Inner Styx bathroom has split outward opening door fitted.

All showers have a step of approximately 14cm, except those fitted over baths.

Baths are available in all rooms

The basins are all approximately 86cm high. Upper Styx is fitted with pedestal style basins; Inner Styx is mounted in a cupboard while Lower Styx is wall mounted.

Toilets are approximately 46cm high.

Towel radiators are fitted in all bathrooms.

Fridge facilities are available for the storage of temperature sensitive medicines.

The fire alarm is an audible alarm. Face to face warning of evacuation will be given to guests requesting it.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

There is roadside parking in the vicinity and we provide free scratch cards.Guests can unload outside the property, and sometimes park, but this may involve blocking the road.

The main bathroom is on the 2nd Floor and there are no additional toilets.
