The Lower Styx

One Bedroom Apartment - Sleeps 2+2

The Lower Styx is our studio apartment located on the ground floor of Haddock Hideaway with its own entrance.  It is perfect for a couple but provides a sociable and economic option for two couples or family as it can cater for up to five people. The bedroom has a king-size bed; the main lounge area has a double sofa bed with curtains that divide the space and additional folding single bed. As long as you let us know your requirements in advance, we will make sure the beds are made up ready for you to relax.

 

One of the major features in the apartment is the large sofas in the lounge area. These are perfect to while away the evening after a busy day. We have installed a 42” television and there are board games available. You will also find a range of information on the area if you are looking for inspiration, and a selection of walking books on the shelves for those of you who want to enjoy the breath taking countryside we have on the doorstep.

 

If the sun comes out you may also want to relax on the decking in the rear yard or garden as you have full access to these shared facilities.

Checking In

Check-in is from 16.00 hours. However, we have installed self check-in facilities to all the apartments and rooms. This provides you with the flexibility to arrive at a time to suit you throughout the evening.  Parking can be arranged earlier by arrangement if needed but do contact us first.

Towels & Toiletries

We provide bath sheets, a hand towel and a shower mat and are more than happy to provide additional towels on request. In a quest to be environmentally friendly we opted to provide shampoo, conditioner, soap and hand & body cream in dispensers, so you can help yourself to what you need. Here at Haddock hideaway we are very excited to now provide 'Who Gives A Crap' toilet roll. I was sceptical at first but am now a convert as its soft, strong and twice as long, whilst being; good for the world, good for people and good for your bum. 

Heating & Lighting

The apartment has full thermostatically controlled central heating. Although, there is a log burner located in the bedroom, electric fire in the lounge and a portable electric heater should you need it. We have fitted a range of wall lights and lamps which can be illuminated in many combinations to suit you but as Haddock hideaway is a Grade II listed building it means there are many switches – happy hunting! 

Self Catering Facilities

The Kitchen, which overlooks the lounge area, has a full size fridge, oven, microwave, toaster and a two ring hob.  There are a selection of pots, pans, cutlery, serving and cooking tools and crockery.  If you are short of anything as we live on we can usually provide it. There is also a dining table in the main lounge area which can comfortably seat all your party.

Checking Out

Our check out time is 10.30am. We ask you to leave promptly so we can maintain our high standards for all our guests. To make your check-out easy all we ask is you settle your account the night before you leave. 

Late Check Out

If you fancy extending your stay why not check out a little later.  For £15 the room is yours till 1pm.  Just let us know the night before.

Most Importantly

We want you to make yourself at home, have a wonderful time and get a chance to relax.  It’s often the small things that make a difference so if there is anything you need do let us know in advance or when you are with us.
